Day 131

Today I made it to the gym, despite my ankle is hurting. I got my butt kicked in water aerobics. I am staying on target with the calorie count and now the gym. I will not be able to make it to the gym tomorrow, but I will go Thursday. Friday a friend and I are going to the amusement park for their Halloween park.

One day I will look like this LOL:

Day 126

Well, my four month check up was today. I have lost a total of 5 pounds for this month (which is good, it is not as fast as I had been loosing). My new weight is 229. Woohoo - 43 pounds less. I made myself a promise, when I get to my mini goal which is 224, I am going to get the new Dan Brown book as a reward for myself.

Other good news - this new drug combination seems to be working. My top number is down where it is ranging from 125-135. My bottom number is a little high, it typically hoovers around 90, but considering where it was, that is a massive difference.

On a funny note, my size 18 jeans are starting to fall off of me (yay!). I was playing with our dog last night and they just slipped down. SO I need a belt. Because I was curious, I took my old jeans (my size 24s) and held them up to me - it was like one of those shows where you could fit 2 of you into the jeans. It looked like a clown outfit, lol.

Day 99 - And Yes, I am Back

I am sorry I have been a little “away”. Opening went smoothly, but August is always a tough month as we just have so much going on. Anyway, things finally seem to be slowing down, so without further ado - here are my updates….

I had my three month check up with the weight loss today. I lost another 9 pounds, so I am now down to 234. Yay!!!!! Bad news, my blood pressure spiked. I am on meds to begin with, but we are not sure why there was such a high spike (about 20 points).

On other issues - I have had to get new cloths at this point. It is a great thing, but it is a situation of trying to decide what is the most important - underwear that fits, pants that fit, bras that fit….. .

Day 59

Well - today was the check up. I weighed in at 243. That is 5 pounds since my mini check last week, 10 pounds for the month, and a total of 29 pounds gone, which, for the record is officially 10% of my starting weight :-). On a side note with that, I have lost a total of 4 inches in my chest and waist, 5.5 inches in my hips, 1.75 inches in my right arm arm, 1 inch in my left arm, and 1.75 inches in both legs since I started in May. My mini goal was for 240, which I chose because it was a nice rounded number… I am going to leave that be for now, but when I hit that goal, I will change my subsequent goals to 10% of my current body weight starting with 243. SO, my next real mini goal is to loose 25 pounds or hit 218.

Day 38

I made it to the Gym today for water aerobics. I also did my mini-weekly check in. My official weigh in is monthly, but my mini-week total was 249, bye bye four more pounds!

Day 36: Happy Fourth Of July!

Well, yesterday was a big test. I, like almost EVERYONE, loves to have hamburgers and fries on the 4th (I am not a big hot dog fan). I managed to keep my 4th dinner (appetizer and all) below 700 calories. I made Turkey Burgers from ground turkey with chopped onions and Pampered Chef seasoning (which I love). Then made Baked Sweet Potato Fries (cooked in oven, not fryer), and sauteed veggie medley of Yellow Squash, Zucchini, Onions, Peppers, and Tomatoes. The appetizer was a plate of fresh raw veggies. I actually managed to keep my entire day at my daily calorie goal of 1400.

Day 31

I had my one month check up since I started this journey. I have lost 19 pounds, let alone the number of inches. This was one of the best days of my life. I do need to work on exercising more and eating more veggies with my meals, but over all I am doing well. My blood pressure, which is always high, thus the blood pressure medicine, was initially 110/70. They took it three more times and could not get the pressure higher then 116/72. How cool is that! Last year when I lost 20 pounds, but blood pressure had not improved nearly as much (maybe only a few points). I was trying to figure out the difference because last year I was exercising more. Greta talked to me about the fact that not only was I still eating poorly (portions too big and misaligned); I was also drinking the same beverages. I would have my morning coffee. If I wanted coffee later on in the day, I would just have it. I am not one to pay endless dollars for specialty coffees so those really were only a rarity. But I would drink diet or sugar free drinks such as Diet Coke, Tropicana Light Orange Aid. Many of these drinks contain sodium, even just a little bit. Based on the research I have since done, apparently the salt or sodium causes the body to keep more water in the body and thus the blood and blood vessels to wash out the excess sodium. By drinking my 8-8ounces of water a day, drinking 2 ounces of water for every 1 ounce of caffeine, and changing my diet so drastically where the sodium intake is greatly reduced, I have reduced the amount of sodium in my blood. I look forward to next month when I can see if the pressure is still low. If it is, I am going to talk to Greta about doing a daily blood pressure check without my medicine for the month and see if the pressure remains low

Day 13

Today was a much better day. I did not have to fight urges such as emotional eating. I tried the “Cook Yourself Thin” Zucchini Spaghetti recipe (using the zucchini verses the noodles) and then did the Pizza sauce from the same cook book as the sauce. It was awesome and Jay loved the sauce. I made him noodles, but still as least we could cook similar food without.

Day Seven

I weighed in at the gym today before I participated in the “Water Works +” class. *drum roll* 265! Seven pounds gone! Yes! At least this is working and even if I am still suffering with some withdrawals, there is a reward for the suffering.

This morning around 10 am I had another sugar craving. Using one of the tips from an article I read about sugar withdrawals, I took some medium apples with me to work. I ate one medium apple instead of the one nutty butter bar I ate yesterday. It satisfied the craving and the withdrawal symptom. I also noticed that the crash was not nearly as hard or severe.
